The Belgian Tourist Office-Brussels & Wallonia has sent a special Christmas package (details below) to Mr David Highest of The Moon, the best-selling UK daily famous for its images of fully-clothed attractive young women on page 5. The newspaper published an article last month by the reporter claiming that the Belgians were boring and that the country had only produced one famous “rubbish actor”.
A video with special Christmas greetings for the journalist has also been posted on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZn_vaZ18Js)
by the Belgian Tourist Office-Brussels & Wallonia.
Speaking from London, director of the BTO Françoise Scheepers said “we felt very sorry for Mr Highest who has probably never been to Belgium, or if he has, not to the right places. We realise that he must have been upset by an article in the Belgian press on 10 reasons to dislike the English, but it would appear that Mr Highest had not read the full article which also included 10 reasons why in fact the Belgians really love the English.”
She added: “We hope that his Christmas present will be of use to his professional career and help him with any further articles he might write on Belgium and the Belgians.”
She also said “We hope that all those who love Belgium have a very merry Christmas and enjoy our Christmas video to The Moon.”
